Requirements for Work Submitted
Submit three pieces of original work in the same medium (i.e., all oil or all watercolor) that demonstrate consistency in style and execution.
All work must be professionally presented, clean, and secure. Mats, if used, should be neatly cut.
Frames must have screw eyes and picture wire tightly attached. Absolutely NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS OR BACKLOADED POSTER FRAMES will be accepted. Secure hanging requirements are a safety issue for those handling and viewing your work.
All 3-D pieces should be clean and undamaged. Artist must provide bases or display supports, if needed.

General Information

You must be 18 years or older and reside in the Tri-state area (Western PA, Eastern OH, or Northwestern WV).
There are no limits to the number of artists accepted at a screening.
Artists do not compete against each other for membership. Each artist's work is judged on its own merit. The work should show creativity, consistency of style and execution, mastery of the medium, and proper presentation.
Applicants should submit only original artwork for screening. Prints are allowable in some of our exhibits, but not in juried shows or for new member screening.
3-D work should be the artists original designs. Work rendered from kits or commercial patterns is not acceptable.
SHAL screeners are anonymous, so applicants must leave the building area while screening is underway. If you are not from the immediate area, there are three shopping centers within one mile of the screening site. All have restrooms and restaurants in or adjacent to the shopping area.
If an artist is not available on the screening date, they may have a family member or friend deliver their artwork along with the completed application form.
